Our Hass Avocados are sourced seasonally from New Zealand, Peru or Myanmar, depending on where the best available fruit is coming from at the time. Hass is one of the world's most widely grown and loved avocado varieties, known for its distinctive pebbled skin, creamy green flesh and naturally rich, nutty flavor.
These are not being sold as certified organic avocados. However, we take the same approach to sourcing and quality that we apply across Sanesa: we select carefully, evaluate the fruit ourselves and test where appropriate.
Most importantly, the Hass Avocados we have sourced have been tested twice for chemical residues and heavy metals, and no detectable residues were found in either round of testing. This testing is an important part of our quality-selection process, although it should not be interpreted as an organic certification or as a guarantee that every future batch will have the same test result.
Hass is particularly prized for its smooth, creamy and buttery flesh. Unlike many green-skinned avocado varieties, Hass naturally changes color as it ripens, from green when firm to dark green, purple or almost black when ready to eat. Its thick, pebbled skin also provides good protection during handling and transportation.
The flesh has a mild, nutty flavor with a rich mouthfeel, making Hass exceptionally versatile. Slice it over sourdough, mash it into guacamole, add it to salads and grain bowls, blend it into smoothies or simply enjoy it with a little salt, pepper and lemon.
Our sourcing changes with the seasons rather than restricting ourselves to one country throughout the year.
🇳🇿 New Zealand
New Zealand is particularly associated with Hass, which makes up around 95% of the country's avocado plantings. The principal growing regions include the Bay of Plenty and Northland. New Zealand Hass is generally available through the latter part of the year and into the following season.
🇵🇪 Peru
Peru is an important international source of Hass Avocados and helps bridge seasonal gaps when other origins are unavailable.
🇲🇲 Myanmar
Myanmar has substantial avocado cultivation, including Hass, particularly across its highland-growing regions. Hass harvests there are generally concentrated around the September–December period.
This multi-origin approach allows us to look for good Hass Avocados across the global season rather than compromise on variety simply because one origin is out of season.

Avocado is unusual among fruits because much of its energy comes from naturally occurring monounsaturated fats rather than sugars. Hass Avocados also provide dietary fiber, potassium, vitamin E, vitamin K, folate and other micronutrients.
Approximate nutrition per 100 g of Hass Avocado flesh:
| Nutrient | Approx. amount |
|---|---|
| Energy | ~168 kcal |
| Total fat | ~15 g |
| Monounsaturated fat | ~10 g |
| Dietary fiber | ~6.8 g |
| Carbohydrates | ~8.5 g |
| Natural sugars | ~0.3 g |
| Potassium | ~500 mg |
| Vitamin C | ~9 mg |
| Vitamin E | ~2 mg |
| Vitamin K | ~20 µg |
| Folate | ~90 µg |
Values are approximate and naturally vary with variety, growing conditions, maturity and fruit size.
Avocados are unusual in that they do not soften and become ready to eat while still on the tree. They mature on the tree and then begin to ripen after harvest.
For Hass, color is a useful indicator of ripeness:
Avoid repeatedly squeezing the fruit to check ripeness, as excessive pressure can bruise the flesh. Instead, look at the color and gently assess the fruit.
We don't call these avocados organic unless the product actually carries the appropriate certification. Instead, we give you transparency about what we know and what we have tested.
A note on testing: Laboratory results apply to the samples/batches tested and should not be interpreted as certification of organic cultivation or as a blanket guarantee for every future shipment. We believe it is better to tell you exactly what we know than make a broader claim than the evidence supports.
🥑 Creamy & Versatile: ideal for toast, salads, wraps, bowls, dips and guacamole.
🥗 Naturally Nutrient-dense: a source of fiber, potassium and several vitamins and minerals.
🌿 Very Low in Natural Sugar: unlike many fruits, avocado contains very little naturally occurring sugar.
🍋 A Perfect Pairing: works beautifully with lemon, herbs, tomatoes, chilies and spices.
🌍 Seasonally Sourced: we look to different origins to bring you Hass Avocados across the international season.
Sometimes the best way to eat a good avocado is also the simplest: cut it open, add a squeeze of lemon, a little sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, and eat it straight from the skin.
For guacamole, toast, salads or smoothies, Hass brings a naturally rich and creamy texture without needing much else.
Storage tip: Keep firm avocados at room temperature until they reach your preferred ripeness. Once ripe, refrigerate them to slow further softening.
At Sanesa, we believe that trust comes from being transparent about what we sell. These Hass Avocados are not certified organic, and we don't represent them as such. What we can tell you is that the batches we sourced were carefully selected and tested twice, with no detectable chemical residues or heavy metals found in those tests.
We would rather give you the complete picture, where they come from, what we know, what we have tested and what we cannot claim, and let you make an informed choice.
