Love a warm bowl of masala pasta but want something made from better grains? Our Organic Samak (Barnyard Millet) Pasta brings together 70% Samak flour and 30% Khapli (Emmer) wheat flour, with no maida and a remarkably simple ingredient list.
The short, twisted fusilli-style shape holds the accompanying organic masala beautifully, giving you those familiar savory, spicy flavors while making Samak, one of India's traditional millets, genuinely easy to bring into an everyday diet.
Every grain and spice used is certified organic.
Samak is an ancient small millet traditionally eaten across India and known by names including Samak, Samvat, Sanwa and Jhangora. Unlike the refined flour ordinarily used for pasta, Barnyard Millet retains the naturally occurring fiber, minerals and other components of the grain.
It has a mild, slightly earthy character, making it particularly well suited to pasta: distinctive enough to taste like a whole grain, yet subtle enough to carry spices and other flavors beautifully.
Blending 70% Samak with 30% Khapli wheat allows Samak to remain the hero grain while Khapli provides the gluten needed to help the pasta hold its spiral form during cooking.
Samak (Barnyard Millet) Flour 70% • Khapli Wheat Flour 30% • Salt
In descending order of quantity:
Dhania (Coriander) Seed Powder • Onion Powder • Garlic Powder • Salt • Red Chilli
The seasoning is deliberately uncomplicated. No elaborate flavor system is needed, just familiar spices that turn the cooked pasta into a warm, savory masala bowl.

The real nutritional advantage here is straightforward: 70% of the flour is Barnyard Millet instead of refined maida.
Barnyard Millet is naturally a source of dietary fiber and provides minerals including iron and phosphorus. Its whole-grain character can also make a millet-based meal more satiating than one based predominantly on refined flour.
Khapli wheat complements Samak structurally while keeping the formulation rooted in traditional grains.
This makes the pasta particularly relevant for households trying to increase dietary diversity and millet consumption without giving up familiar comfort foods.
Important: Exact nutrient values can vary with the grain and processing batch. The nutrition panel on the pack should be treated as the reference for product-specific values.
This is one instruction we strongly recommend not skipping.
If you're accustomed to conventional instant noodles, don't judge the required water by eye. Samak and Khapli are fiber-containing grain flours, and this pasta needs generous hydration to become properly tender.
Using too little water can leave the pasta firmer than intended.
The 700 mL quantity is based on the cooking performance of this formulation and is the amount we recommend for the desired texture.
1. Boil: Bring approximately 700 mL water to a boil in a sufficiently wide pan.
2. Add the pasta: Add the entire 170 g pack and allow the spirals to begin softening.
3. Cook gently: Continue cooking, stirring occasionally so the pasta cooks evenly and does not stick.
4. Add the tastemaker: Once the pasta has begun to soften, add the accompanying organic spice mix and stir thoroughly.
5. Cook until tender: Continue cooking until the pasta reaches your preferred softness and the masala coats the spirals well.
6. Rest & serve: Switch off the heat, allow it to rest briefly and serve warm.
Millet pasta should be judged by texture rather than the clock. If the pasta still feels too firm, add a little hot water and continue cooking rather than serving it under-hydrated.
The included tastemaker makes this an easy standalone masala pasta, but the spirals also give you plenty of room to build a proper meal.
Try adding peas, carrots, capsicum, beans, mushrooms or sweet corn. For children who prefer gentler flavors, use less of the tastemaker and finish with a little butter or ghee. For a more grown-up bowl, fresh coriander, chilli and a squeeze of lime work particularly well.
And because the pasta itself has a mild flavor, you can skip the tastemaker altogether and use it with your own tomato, pesto or vegetable-based sauce.
Contains gluten because 30% of the formulation is Khapli wheat. It is therefore not suitable for people with coeliac disease or those who need a gluten-free diet.
Although Samak itself is widely associated with Indian fasting foods, this particular product is not a vrat / fasting food because it contains Khapli wheat.
Barnyard Millet isn't actually a type of rice, despite Samak often being called “Vrat ke Chawal” or “Samak Rice” in India. It belongs to the millet family. Its tiny grains simply take on a rice-like appearance when cooked, which is how the popular name arose.
Here, we've taken the same traditional grain and given it a rather different identity: spiral pasta.
