Our Organic Red Gold Apples now come from the high Himalayan orchards of Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, grown at approximately 9,550 feet above sea level by the same remarkable farmer who brings us our Royal Delicious and Richared Apples.
These apples are immediately recognisable by their deep crimson-red peel, with only small patches of golden-yellow colouring, and their naturally sweet, pleasantly mild flavour.
Red Gold is a fascinating apple variety in its own right, a cross between Golden Delicious and Richared Delicious, combining the heritage of two celebrated members of the Delicious family.
At Sanesa, what makes these apples particularly special is their provenance.
Our farmer is a school teacher with a PhD in Education, who follows certified-organic cultivation and incorporates biodynamic practices. He personally prepares more than 90% of the agricultural inputs used in his orchard, while irrigation comes from Himalayan streams that sustain his village in an exceptionally dry mountain landscape.
These are apples grown with patience and personal involvement, rather than through a conventional synthetic pesticide programme.
A beautiful deep-red apple with an equally interesting story behind it.
Our Kinnaur Red Gold Apples grow in a mountain environment quite different from the lower-altitude orchards of Rohru.
Situated at approximately 9,550 ft (2,911 meters), the orchard experiences a distinctive Himalayan climate, with cool growing-season temperatures, strong mountain sunlight and considerable variation between daytime and nighttime conditions.
These environmental factors are important because apple quality is shaped by more than its variety.
Temperature, sunlight, orchard altitude, crop maturity and cultivation practices can all influence an apple's color, firmness, sugar-acid balance and aromatic characteristics.
Red apples develop their characteristic color through pigments called anthocyanins, which accumulate in the peel.
Scientific research has shown that growing conditions associated with higher elevations, including sunlight exposure and temperature, can encourage anthocyanin accumulation in certain apple cultivars.
The Kinnaur harvest we are offering has developed extensive, rich crimson coloring, with only relatively small golden-yellow patches visible, particularly near the stem.
This makes its appearance noticeably different from our Red Gold harvest from Rohru.
However, color development depends on several factors, and a darker apple is not necessarily sweeter or more nutritious.
For us, the deeper color is a distinctive characteristic of this harvest, not a reason to make exaggerated nutritional claims.
These Red Gold Apples come from the same Kinnaur farmer who brings us our Organic Royal Delicious and Richared Apples.
He is a school teacher with a PhD in Education, who manages his family's orchard while remaining deeply involved in its everyday cultivation.
His farming practices combine certified-organic principles, biodynamic methods and traditional Indian agricultural knowledge.
One of the most remarkable aspects of his farming is that he prepares more than 90% of the agricultural inputs used in his orchard himself.
Instead of depending predominantly on commercially prepared inputs, he develops and uses locally made preparations as part of his approach to soil health and crop management.
The farm follows certified-organic practices and incorporates biodynamic approaches.
The farmer plans several agricultural activities in accordance with traditional Indian farming calendars and natural cycles.
Preparations such as cold-pressed neem oil are used where appropriate for crop protection.
His village is located in an exceptionally dry part of Kinnaur, where rainfall is very limited.
Irrigation depends on two streams originating in the Himalayan mountains, making responsible water management central to the orchard's functioning.
According to local tradition, the village was visited and blessed by Padmasambhava Ji, revered as Guru Rinpoche or the Second Buddha.
It is a place where Himalayan cultural traditions, mountain ecology and agricultural knowledge have coexisted for generations.
For us at Sanesa, knowing the person behind our produce, and understanding the place where it grows, is as important as the fruit itself.
The most obvious distinguishing feature of this Kinnaur harvest is its exceptionally broad red color coverage.
These apples have a deep, dark red exterior, with scattered natural lenticels and occasional small yellow-golden patches.
Individual apples may vary in the precise depth and distribution of color.
Red Gold is appreciated for its naturally sweet eating character.
Our Rohru Red Gold Apples have been particularly popular for their concentrated flavor. The Kinnaur harvest offers another opportunity to experience this variety from a different orchard and growing environment.
The exact sweetness and acidity of each harvest can vary with maturity and growing conditions.
Red Gold Apples are enjoyable when fresh and appropriately mature, with a firm bite and succulent flesh.
Like other apples, their firmness gradually changes with storage and ripening after harvest.
The deep red exterior contrasts beautifully with the lighter flesh inside.
Enjoy these apples whole or sliced to appreciate their refreshing juiciness and natural flavor.
Our farmer follows certified-organic cultivation practices rather than a conventional synthetic pesticide programme.
No commercial wax coating or artificial ripening treatment is applied to these apples.
We are offering both origins separately because knowing where your apple was grown matters.

Apples are a naturally hydrating fruit that contribute dietary fiber, carbohydrates and a range of plant compounds to our diets.
They are best enjoyed as part of a varied diet rich in whole fruits, vegetables, pulses, whole grains and other minimally processed foods.

Approximate USDA values for raw apples with skin, not laboratory measurements of the Kinnaur Red Gold harvest.
Whole apples contain soluble and insoluble fibers, including pectin.
Dietary fiber supports normal digestive function and helps make whole fruit a valuable component of everyday meals.
Apple skins contain naturally occurring polyphenols, including compounds associated with their red color.
Anthocyanins contribute to red pigmentation, while other phenolic compounds occur in both the peel and flesh.
These substances are of considerable scientific interest, although the deep red color of an apple does not, by itself, establish that it provides greater health benefits than a lighter-colored apple.
With approximately 85% water content, apples make an easy, refreshing whole-fruit snack.
Apple peel contributes dietary fiber and naturally occurring plant compounds.
Our apples are not coated with added commercial wax, so we recommend washing them thoroughly and enjoying the peel too, if you like.
A Note on Blood Sugar: Apples contain natural sugars and carbohydrates. People managing diabetes or blood-glucose levels should consider portion sizes and their overall dietary requirements. Organic cultivation or deeper red pigmentation does not make an apple sugar-free.
We believe the best way to appreciate these apples is to enjoy them fresh.
For young children, cut apples into age-appropriate pieces to reduce choking risk.
Although Red Gold Apples can be stored under suitable refrigeration, their keeping quality depends on the particular harvest, maturity, fruit condition and handling.
For the best eating experience:
Properly refrigerated, sound apples can retain acceptable quality for several weeks, but the actual shelf life varies. We do not promise that Kinnaur Red Gold will keep longer than Rohru Red Gold without harvest-specific evidence.
Our Kinnaur farmer uses cold storage without chemical fumigation or post-harvest chemical treatment for fruit retained beyond the harvest season.
When these apples are offered later in the year, they are cold-stored apples rather than freshly harvested fruit.
We believe customers deserve to know the distinction.
Did you know that Red Gold is a cross between Golden Delicious and Richared Delicious?
The variety was developed in Washington State, USA, and introduced in 1946. It combines the genetic heritage of two well-established apple varieties and is known for its red skin, yellowish flesh and pleasantly sweet, mild-acid flavour.
What makes this particularly interesting at Sanesa is that we source all three varieties, Golden Delicious, Richared and Red Gold, from the same certified-organic farmer in Kinnaur.
Three different apple varieties, each with its own characteristics, grown in the same Himalayan environment.
From a certified-organic Himalayan orchard at approximately 9,550 feet to your doorstep, Sanesa brings you Organic Red Gold Apples from Kinnaur, along with a wide selection of organically grown fruits, vegetables and groceries.

1. What is the difference between Kinnaur and Rohru Red Gold Apples?
Both are supplied as Red Gold Apples, but they come from different farmers and growing regions. Our current Kinnaur harvest is predominantly deep crimson red, with smaller yellow-golden patches, whereas the Rohru harvest has more noticeable golden areas. Taste and firmness may also vary between harvests.
2. Are Kinnaur Red Gold Apples sweeter than Rohru Red Gold Apples?
Not necessarily. Darker red coloring does not automatically indicate higher sugar content. A reliable comparison would require tasting and ideally measuring samples from both harvests.
3. Are these apples certified organic?
Yes. They are sourced from our certified-organic farmer in Kinnaur, who also incorporates biodynamic and traditional Indian farming practices.
4. Are they from the same farmer as your Royal Delicious Apples?
Yes. Our Kinnaur Red Gold, Royal Delicious and Richared Apples come from the same farmer.
5. Why do some apples have yellow patches?
The red pigments do not always cover the entire peel evenly. Small areas of the underlying yellow-golden skin can remain visible, particularly around the stem. Such color variation does not automatically indicate poor quality or immaturity.
6. Do you apply wax to these apples?
No added commercial wax coating is applied. Apples naturally have a protective waxy layer on their skin, which is different from a post-harvest wax treatment.
7. How long do Kinnaur Red Gold Apples last?
This depends on maturity, harvest quality and storage. Refrigeration generally helps maintain their firmness and eating quality longer than room-temperature storage.
8. Do you deliver Kinnaur Red Gold Apples across Delhi NCR?
Yes. Sanesa offers home delivery across its serviceable areas of Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Indirapuram, with same-day delivery available for orders placed before the relevant cutoffs.
